May issue of New Steel Construction out now

Posted on by in Weekly News

The May issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both print and digital formats. Readers can access the magazine via the website: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story features Sheffield Forgemasters’ New Machine Shop building. Once complete, the structure will accommodate nine overhead cranes that will service one of the world’s most advanced large-scale machining facilities.

Two steel-framed office blocks form the major element of the South Molton project in London’s Mayfair district. Helping the scheme achieve its sustainability targets, a quantity of reused steelwork has been incorporated into both of the buildings.

Structural steelwork has been used for the long-span areas of the B75 building at the University of Southampton. Creating a new gateway to the Highfield Campus, the building will accommodate lecture and seminar spaces.

Situated in Avonmouth, one of the UK’s prime logistics locations, a new M&S distribution centre is nearing completion. The long-span structure will accommodate extensive temperature controlled areas, comprising freezer and chiller zones designed as boxes within boxes.

Structural steelwork is the preferred framing solution for large agricultural buildings. Highlighting the sector, NSC reports on a bulk grain store in east Kent.

NSC also features a Steel for Life Gold Sponsor article, a comment article on the UK Steel Strategy, industry news, and a technical paper and an advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute.
