SCI Members’ Event

Over eighty people signed up for the SCI Members Day on 3rd July, and came to Ascot to hear about current developments and network around a BBQ in the evening. The event provided a good opportunity to get together with members and ensure that SCI is continuing to work in partnership with them to meet their business needs.

In the afternoon the audience were treated to three hours of presentations covering:

• Eurocodes – what’s the problem, and how is SCI helping?
• Eurocodes – e-tools to help designers and manufacturers, including Access Steel
• Product confidence – what is CE Marking, and how SCI Assessed compliments it
• Sustainability – recent and future developments and what SCI is doing?

Feedback on these presentations included “I’ve never heard anything positive about EC3 before, and it’s very encouraging because the Eurocodes are not going away”.

Equally, the sustainability presentation proved popular and reinforced SCI’s commitment to offering sustainable and environmentally responsible solutions. “I thought I knew quite a lot about sustainability but I’ve learned more today” commented one member.

With the third and fourth speakers having to compete with rain and a thunder storm, the sun shone on Silwood Park for the end of the day so a drink and food could be enjoyed by all.
