Steel bridge for major Lincoln housing development
Providing improved road and pedestrian access to the Lincoln Charterholme development, a 40m-long steel bridge is being installed by Nusteel Structures.
Spanning over a railway line, the bridge has been fabricated and delivered to site as four main beams. Along with their cross members, the beams were then assembled into two braced pairs, each weighing 86t, which were lifted into place using a mobile crane.
Councillor Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth at City of Lincoln Council, said: “The Charterholme development will bring high-quality housing, modern infrastructure, and sustainable public spaces to Lincoln. Progress is being made across all aspects of the Charterholme project, from the first homes to major infrastructure works.
The overall scheme will eventually include over 3,000 new homes, shops, a business park, leisure facilities and green spaces.
Graham is the main contractor for the road and bridgeworks, which are expected to be complete by early 2026.
