Inkjet marking offers faster processing

Posted on by in Weekly News

Voortman150716Steel processing equipment manufacturer Voortman Steel Machinery has launched a new inkjet marking unit to enable faster marking possibilities for its V304 plate processing systems.

The inkjet marking unit is said to be able to mark lines, texts and layout. It is equipped with a 16 nozzle, stepless printing head, which can rotate 360 degrees.

The operator can configure text height between 3mm and 67mm, the machine due to rotation of the marking head then automatically controls the height.

Four touchless sensors control the height of the new inkjet marking unit, one on each corner of the unit. This enables seamless marking on rough and rusted material. The company claims that this also allows the inkjet marking unit to mark the entire plate, including the edges.

Inkjet marking leaves a mark without heat distortion. Marking speeds are up 20 m/min, which makes it the fastest marking option available. Inkjet marking is mostly used for large data sizes and a high amount of characters. However, inkjet markings are not permanent and disappear after shot blasting, galvanizing or painting.
