Harwell Science and Innovation Campus set for steel-framed expansion

Posted on by in News

Harwell has appointed Glencar to design and build a new 6,500m2 multi-occupier technology development at its Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.

Aiming to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, the steel-framed project will provide flexible leasing options for multiple mid-tech units. The development will be delivered to a ‘shell’ specification, allowing future tenants to customise the space to meet their specific requirements.

Construction began in March, with an initial six-week enabling works phase, and the overall development is scheduled for completion in February 2026, with a total build programme of 50 weeks.

Commenting on the appointment, Glencar Managing Director Roy Jones said: “We’re excited to be returning to Harwell for this important project. The Harwell Science and Innovation Campus is a global leader in research and innovation, and we are proud to be part of its continued growth. Our experience in delivering high-quality tech and life sciences developments positions us well to contribute to the campus’s success.”

Jason Stafford from Harwell commented: “We’re pleased to continue working with Glencar on this new development. Their expertise in delivering complex, high-quality projects will help bring our vision to life. This development will be an important addition to the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, further supporting innovation and scientific advancements for our members.”
