Bourne Group reports strong half year

Posted on by in Weekly News

Bourne150723Poole-based steelwork specialist Bourne Group is on course for record turnover this year after seeing a strong upturn in demand.

The Bourne Group, which owns steelwork contractor Bourne Steel and car park turnkey specialist Bourne Parking, has reported strong half-year revenues approaching £30M, and is now forecasting turnover to top £60M for the full year.

Bourne Group Chief Executive Steve Govier said: “In a rising market, the temptation is to grow the business rapidly and soak up the increased demand, especially after 5 or 6 years of tough trading.

“But with the levels of skills shortages being seen in the wider industry, we are very clear that being selective, putting our best people to work on the best projects and making sure we deliver successful projects for our customers is an absolute priority.”

He added that the order book and pipeline of contract opportunities remained good and allowed Bourne to be selective with work mix and risk profiles.

The Group, which this month, won a Structural Steel Design Award (SSDA) for its work at the Imperial War Museum (pictured); says it is among the few steelwork companies to remain profitable throughout the last recession.

‘Our People are our most valuable asset; it’s our solidity and can-do attitude that our clients find attractive.’ says Bourne Steel Managing Director Nick Hatton.
