Posted on by in News

The steel-framed Allander Leisure and Day Care Centre in Bearsden, Glasgow has opened to the public.

The initial phase of the project is now complete – part of a £42.5M investment by East Dunbartonshire Council – which also includes a support centre for adults with learning disabilities.

The overall Allander scheme also includes the construction of a new ‘Sports Dome’, offering two football pitches and a tennis court. This phase is expected to be completed by autumn 2023, when an official opening will be held.

Working on behalf of main contractor McLaughlin & Harvey, Walter Watson fabricated, supplied and erected 1,075t of steelwork for the initial phase of the project.

The leisure centre offers a 25m-long, eight-lane swimming pool and 20m-long training pool with movable floor; eight-court sports hall; two squash courts; a gym, and a café.
