Steel construction drives college scheme

Posted on by in News

A new £1.5M steel framed training facility for construction and mechanisation skills has been erected at Bridgwater College in Somerset.

Funded by EDF Energy, the building will allow the college to offer courses in a range of civil engineering and construction programmes.

Main contractor for the project is ISG and the steelwork contractor is Overdale Construction Services. A total of 45t of steel was fabricated and erected for the single storey teaching block.

ISG worked with Bath based architect DKA on this design and build scheme, which sees the construction of a traditionally built building, comprising four classrooms, administrative areas and toilet blocks.

John Rawlinson, ISG Managing Director – South West, said: “This project addresses the need for practical and targeted construction skills and demonstrates how training providers and potential clients can work together to offer skill development opportunities for future generations of construction professionals.”
