July/August issue of New Steel Construction out now

Posted on by in Weekly News

The latest issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

July/August’s cover story highlights the work undertaken to convert the previously derelict Welsh Baptist Chapel in Manchester into a student accommodation scheme.

Two education features appear this issue of NSC. The Newbattle Centre in Midlothian, which is a community hub containing a new high school, while the University of Oxford is relying on steel construction to create new chemistry teaching laboratories.

A series of steel trusses form the long span areas for a new leisure centre in the town of Downpatrick. The centre is located on a main road into the town, and as such, it is expected that the building will become a civic gateway.

Located next to the Shell HQ building, overlooking the River Thames, steel construction is playing a leading role in the construction of two commercial towers that form part of London’s Southbank Place project.

In other features in this issue, NSC meets Tim Outteridge, the BCSA’s new President, a Steel for Life Sector Focus reports on computer software and the Structural Steel Design Awards 2017 shortlist is highlighted in a two-page pictorial spread

NSC also features, as usual, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, industry news, and codes and standards updates.
