February issue of New Steel Construction out now

The February issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story is the St Giles Circus development in London’s West End, which includes the revamp of Denmark Street, also known as Tin Pan Alley.

The scheme includes an urban gallery for exhibits and shows, an underground auditorium and a hotel, all of which is being constructed around a number of constraints including the Elizabeth Line Crossrail tunnel.

A new production facility is being built in Dundalk, Ireland for a leading pharmaceutical packing company. A steel-framed solution was chosen because of the required long spans and the speed at which the material can be erected.

NSC features two projects from Greater Manchester, where construction activity is reaching record levels. The Landmark in St Peter’s Square is a 14-storey steel-framed building that will offer 16,700m² of BREEAM ‘Excellent’ office space and 50 basement car parking lots.

Opposite the Trafford Centre, a new steel-framed Williams Group car showroom is being erected. Two separate buildings will accommodate BMW and MINI marques, and Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles.

In the Scottish Borders town of Jedburgh, an architecturally-impressive school campus is being constructed on a number of man-made plateaus overlooking the historic settlement.

NSC also features industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
