Work set to start on new River Trent pedestrian bridge
Construction of the first bridge over the River Trent in Nottingham, since 1958, is set to begin in the coming months.
Nottingham City Council has appointed Balfour Beatty as the main contractor for the pedestrian and cycle bridge.
The 85m-long Waterside Bridge will create a new link between two city centre regeneration schemes. The steel structure will have an arched design and will be 4m-wide.
Locally-based Briton Fabricators will fabricate the bridge in large sections, which will be lifted into place during the autumn.
The bridge is expected to open in spring 2026.
