Structural Steel Design Awards 1974

1974 has proved to be a vintage year for the SSDA scheme. There was a record number of entries and their quality was very high indeed. So high in fact that the judges had great difficulty in making their selection and finally decided that it was necessary to give three commendations in addition to the six awards. The variety in these nine designs demonstrates that steel is the material par excellence for the economical, efficient and visually satisfying tangible expression of the designer’s ideas.
