SCI leads engineering workshop in China
SCI has led the first workshop in China for civil and structural engineers on the specification and design of stainless steel as a load bearing material. Held in Beijing, the workshop was attended by 170 local engineers.
The event was arranged by the Nickel Institute, an organisation which promotes the use of nickel worldwide. About 65% of all nickel produced is used to make stainless steel and China is now the largest producer of stainless steel in the world.
This year SCI and the Nickel Institute will begin on the first phase of the development of an on-line tool for designing structural stainless steel components aimed at the Chinese market. A variety of structural applications are featured in a series of case studies at www.stainlessconstruction.com
