Glencar has been appointed by Aviva Investors to construct four logistics/industrial units in a range of sizes from 2,090m2 up to 5,969m2 at Catalyst Industrial Park at Washwood Heath in Birmingham. The steel-framed, detached units will feature 12.5m-high eaves, 50KN/m2 floor loading and 24-hour access. Aiming to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A ratings, the units will also feature photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging points.
Developers Ballymore and Hammerson have received approval on two Reserved Matters Applications (RMAs) from for the redevelopment of Bishopsgate Goodsyard. Located close to the City of London’s north-eastern boundary, the scheme will deliver new homes, retail and leisure, workspace and a new park built on the 4.5-hectare site. One of the main commercial buildings will be located above Shoreditch station.
Stockport Council has given the go-ahead for six light industrial units, ranging in size from 929m2 to 3,716m2, forming a new business park in Cheadle. All of the units are targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ ratings, as the scheme aims to align with Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standards.
Alliance Leisure has appointed Speller Metcalfe as the main contractor for the multi-million-pound redevelopment of MyActive Leek, which was formerly known as Brough Park Leisure Centre. The scheme is supported by £10 million of Levelling Up Funding, with additional funds coming from the Council, Sport England and the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
Eastern Quarry Limited (EQL), an entity owned and managed by Henley Camland, a joint venture between Henley Investment Management and Camland Developments, is set to deliver a major new education hub in Ebbsfleet Garden City, Kent. The £80 million Alkerden Academy will offer more than 2,200 places to primary and secondary school pupils, making it one of the largest education facilities ever to be built in Kent.
