New Rotherham Market shops for steel

Posted on by in News

Forming part of Rotherham’s Council Masterplan, the new steel frame for the town’s redeveloped covered market is quickly taking shape.

Requiring over 300t of steelwork, the project, which is positioned on top of a retained concrete podium also includes a new library.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs and Local Economy, Councillor Robert Taylor, said: “The redevelopment of the market is a complex project which will not only breathe new life into our community, but also provide economic opportunities for our local businesses. It will provide an accessible, enjoyable space for all, celebrating our diverse community and heritage.”

Once the new covered market and library is complete, in 2026, the project team will begin work on the redevelopment of the adjacent indoor market building.

Working on behalf of Henry Boot Construction, Hambleton Steel (part of Embrace Steel) is fabricating, supplying and installing the steelwork.
