BCSA helps steelwork procurement with PAS compliance
The BCSA has reaffirmed its commitment to Publicly Available Specification 91 (PAS 91) by ensuring its membership is compliant.
PAS 91 was developed by BSI in order to test compliance with the core criteria essential for prequalification for construction tendering and to establish uniform requirements for their application and use.
The BCSA has mapped its membership assessment criteria to ensure that its members are PAS 91 compliant, giving the construction industry greater confidence in their selection process for competent steelwork contractors, and providing them with a simple mechanism to meet Government procurement requirements.
By selecting a BCSA Member for the supply and erection of steelwork, contractors can be assured that they meet the requirements of PAS 91.
Sarah McCann-Bartlett, BCSA Director General, said: “By selecting a BCSA Member for the supply and erection of constructional steelwork, contractors can streamline the prequalification process, taking cost and time out of procurement.”
The BCSA supports the use of PAS 91 as it will help to streamline tendering processes by reducing the need for unproductive, repetitive completion of different prequalification processes; increase consistency between prequalification databases; facilitate the identification of suitably qualified and experienced suppliers; and enable the separation of criteria at the prequalification and contract award stages of the procurement process.
