Work underway for Wakefield stadium redevelopment

Rugby League side Wakefield Trinity is redeveloping its historic Belle Vue Stadium with the construction of a 2,500-capacity East Stand, floodlight upgrades and a new 4G all-weather pitch.

The stadium has been home to Wakefield Trinity since the 1870s and this project is said to be the most significant development for the club in more than 75 years.

The new East Stand will become the stadium’s focal point as it will contain a FanZone for home fans, and areas for away supporters.

In addition, the club has plans to further increase the ground’s capacity to over 8,000, by refurbishing its North Stand, which is currently subject to health and safety restrictions.

“This is fantastic news and marks another significant milestone in our plans to develop the Be Well Support Stadium at Belle Vue into a community stadium for the people of Wakefield,” said John Minards, Wakefield Trinity Chairman

Work is expected to complete in 2023.
