Tesco takes possession of north Kent steel-framed warehouse

Posted on by in News

Consisting of three interlinked steel-framed structures, developer Panattoni has completed a bespoke logistics warehouse for Tesco.

Located on the west bank of the River Medway and on land formerly occupied by a paper mill, the scheme represents one of the final warehouses on Panattoni Park Aylesford.

The three separate areas house a freezer, chiller and ambient storage zones. Two insulated internal walls, positioned between a double row of steel columns, separate the three storage areas from each other.

Working on behalf of main contractor Winvic Construction, Severfield fabricated, supplied and installed 2,408t of steelwork for the project.

Tony Watkins, Head of Development: South East & London at Panattoni said: “The BREEAM ‘Excellent’ facility is the culmination of our vision for the project to deliver cutting-edge operational capabilities for Tesco, creating jobs and generating benefits for Kent. This facility will also bring amenities such as retail, dining, and services, while driving investment in logistics and local businesses.”
