Steelwork in action published in New Civil Engineer
The latest Structural Steelwork in Action special report is available in the May issue of New Civil Engineer (NCE) magazine, which can be viewed at: www.steelconstruction.info
Published in association with the British Constructional Steelwork Association and Steel for Life, the supplement showcases five innovative steelwork projects.
The initial project is the prestigious Nova Victoria scheme that is rapidly taking shape opposite one of London main railway stations. The job includes two steel-framed office towers, 15 and 21-storeys high respectively.
A portal-framed structure and an unorthodox office block will house and service the Met Office’s new supercomputer in Exeter. NCE’s article discovers how the project benefited from utilising steel construction.
Built within a retained façade, a new mixed-use development on London’s famous Leicester Square will open later this year. A total of 2,000t of structural steelwork has been used for this challenging and eye-catching structure.
The centre of steel city is being transformed with the construction of a large steel-framed retail and leisure development known as Sheffield Moor.
A new secondary school is being delivered in Anstruther, Fife as part of the ongoing hub Scotland initiative. Replacing the existing school, the new steel-framed structure will also provide a home for the council’s local office, a library and a base for police officers.
