Steelwork contractor achieves nuclear accreditation

Severfield has been awarded the ISO 19443:2018 certification, making it the 12th company in the UK to achieve this standard. The certification sets strict requirements for quality management systems within nuclear environments, ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory rules.

Steve Clyne, Head of Nuclear Quality at Severfield said, “This certification is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team. Achieving ISO 19443:2018 in just six months, compared to the typical year-long process, reflects our commitment to efficiency and excellence.”

The company said, gaining the certification opens new doors for Severfield as a Tier-1 supplier in the nuclear field, paving the way for expanded opportunities in the UK and across Europe. In addition, it will further enhance the work the company does in nuclear decommissioning.

As a Key Delivery Partner (KDP) on the Sellafield Programme and Project Partners (PPP) framework, the company said it will share the learnings and processes it has developed with its fellow KDPs, improving the PPP and the wider industry through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The PPP is a 20-year partnership created to drive collaboration and change how major projects are delivered at Sellafield. As a key partner, Severfield, along with the other KDPs, will play a vital role in ensuring the projects needed to manage the UK’s legacy nuclear waste are built on time and within budget.
