Steel stockist acquires new site
Newmarket-based AJN Steelstock, has expanded its operation with the acquisition of a 17-acre industrial site in Henstridge, Somerset creating 100 new jobs.
AJN says the purchase of Henstridge is the result of sustained growth for the company. In business for over 60 years, demand for its steel has grown year on year for the last 15 years and in the year to 2015 the firm recorded a record turnover of more than £50M and increased its steel sales by 21,512t (20 per cent up on the previous year.)
The company’s existing 11-acre Newmarket site had reached capacity and the new premises will allow AJN to increase its stock and expand its business into the South West.
AJN Steelstock’s Financial Director, Courtney Bell, said, “We’re delighted to have made this significant investment in our future.
“Not only does it give us a powerful second base in England but it also brings extra jobs and benefits to the surrounding area.
“Our success in Newmarket is based upon loyalty to our customers, competitively priced steel and exceptional service. We look forward to repeating that in Henstridge.”
AJN says it has made a multi-million pound investment in Henstridge, which already has much of the infrastructure and buildings in place. The site will also provide in-house sawing, shotblasting and painting facilities, as well as a state of the art CNC drilling line and plate and angle processing lines.
