September issue of New Steel Construction out now 

The September issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available. It is a digital-only issue and readers can access it via the website: www.newsteelconstruction.com 

This month’s cover story features the Deal Leisure Centre in Kent. Exposed internal steelwork forms part of the design, with a series of long-span Westok cellular beams on display above the main swimming pool. 

In Cambridge, the St John’s Innovation Park is expanding with the construction of the first of two new steel-framed office blocks. The Dirac Building (named after a pioneering physicist) is a six-storey structure featuring 14.5m-long clear internal spans. 

Targeting some of the highest sustainability credentials, 80% of the existing structure at 65 Gresham Street in London is being retained as part of its redevelopment. As well as reconfiguring the existing structure, four additional floors are being added to the top of the building. 

Replacing three 1960s-built structures, a new three-storey steel-framed ‘superblock’ is being built at Appleby Grammar School in Cumbria. A steel option was chosen as it offers the quickest and most efficient construction method. 

Milton Keynes, the UK’s top recycling city, is upgrading its facilities with the construction of a new reuse and recycling centre. Located at Wolverton, the facility features a 70m-long steel canopy that spans eight gantries and refuse containers.
