Logistics boost for south east London
The City of London Corporation’s commercial property developer Stoford and Axel Logistics have begun construction of a new urban warehousing development in south east London.
Located on a vacant 12.2-acre site off the A206 Thames Road in Crayford, MLM Crayford will provide three high-specification units, ranging in size from 3,158m2 up to 15,793m2.
The scheme is said to reflect both Stoford and Axel’s commitment to environmentally sustainable development, and will target BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, EPC A, and net zero carbon in its entire life cycle.
MLM Crayford will incorporate features such as rainwater harvesting, photovoltaic roof panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, electric vehicle charging stations and bicycle storage.
Angus Huntley, Director at Stoford, said: “We are excited to be breaking ground on what is a market-leading industrial and logistics development for south east London.”
Peter Day, CEO at Axel Logistics said: “MLM Crayford is one of the largest urban logistics schemes currently under construction in Europe. These units will provide exceptional new warehouse space with outstanding environmental performance, to address the strong supply-demand dynamics in the South London market.”
The main contractor is McLaren Construction and the project is due to complete in October 2025.
