NSC1506ADcovEThis month’s issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available online at www.newsteelconstruction.com, featuring reports from UK construction projects and updates on key technical issues from steel industry experts.

June’s issue is the last of our digital only offerings and it should be noted that from July/August NSC will be reverting to a printed magazine; full instructions on how to register to receive the print can be found at www.steelconstruction.info. However, it will still be possible to also view each issue via digital means.

It is nearly three years since the London Olympics took place and in the current issue of NSC we look at what has happened to the steel-framed sporting venues. Some, like the iconic Stadium, Aquatics Centre and Velodrome have been, or are being remodelled into their Legacy configurations, while other venues have been completely dismantled.

A new US Embassy is under construction on London’s south bank. Located in Nine Elms, the Embassy will be at the heart of one of the Capital’s largest regeneration schemes.

Alternative methods for power generation are becoming increasing important and a new energy centre in Brigg, Lincolnshire, will use locally grown straw to produce electricity.

A new £25M redevelopment of a North Wales school into what will be known as Rhyl New School is aiming to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The steel-framed building is being constructed on land previously occupied by the school’s sports fields.

Linking Tweedbank with Edinburgh, the Borders Railway will be the UK’s newest railway line when it opens for business this September. NSC reports on the numerous steel bridges that have been erected along the 30 miles of railway.

Rugby’s Technology Retail Park also features in this latest issue of NSC, as well as the usual news pages, and a technical feature from the Steel Construction Institute.
