Herne Bay to get ‘Very Good’ leisure centre

Posted on by in News

Work is underway on a new David Lloyd Club at Herne Bay in Kent.

Set to achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, the club will feature four swimming pools, a wellness and spa area, tennis courts, a multi-use games court, fitness studios, children’s zones, as well as a lounge and social spaces.

Working on behalf of main contractor Foxton Construction, Caunton Engineering has fabricated, supplied and erected 170t of steelwork for the project.

Located on the Altira Business Park, the scheme has been designed with a steel frame wrapped in composite cladding panels that sit on concrete pad foundations.

The cladding panels will be covered in several finishes, including timber and corium brick slips, to create the appearance of traditional masonry walls.

Foxton Construction Partner Brett Kanjurs, said: “We are delighted to be delivering this state-of-the-art facility on behalf of our valued client, David Lloyd, and we look forward to continuing our relationship on future club developments.”
