Ground broken for Hillingdon college redevelopment

Posted on by in Weekly News

Main contractor Bouygues UK has celebrated the official groundbreaking at Rosedale College, marking the start of a transformative project set to future-proof the West London college as a leading institution for technology and applied learning.

Being delivered in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE), the project involves the demolition of outdated 1960s structures to make way for state-of-the-art teaching facilities and a dedicated performing arts block.

This modern infrastructure is designed to be net zero carbon in operation, aligning with the UK’s wider climate targets and Bouygues UK’s own commitment to low-carbon construction.

Mark Cesenek, Managing Director at Bouygues UK, said: “We are excited to celebrate this groundbreaking at Rosedale College, as it will set a benchmark for sustainable education facilities and demonstrate how innovative construction can support future-ready learning.

“By combining high-tech facilities with a net zero operational blueprint, we are creating a campus that reflects the innovation happening within its walls.”

As well as the new buildings, the project also includes a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing STEM block and extensive upgrades to the college’s sports facilities.

Marie Ashley, CEO of the Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust, said: “The College is delighted to announce that work is now underway on our long awaited campus redevelopment, which includes the construction of two new buildings and a major refurbishment of our STEM block.

This investment represents a significant milestone in our commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment for our students. While outstanding teaching remains at the heart of everything we do, creating modern, purpose built spaces will further enhance the educational experience and open new opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and ambition across our community.”
