Double decker steel warehouse just the ticket for Ikea
A two-storey steel-framed Ikea store is due to begin construction in Reading during June.
Main contractor for the project is RG Group and it has yet to appoint a steelwork contractor.
The Swedish flat-pack giant gained planning at the end of March after scaling the project down to a 31,000m² two-storey shed from an initial three-level structure.
Demoltion of a Homebase and a Carpetright store in the Berkshire retail park in Princents Lane have been completed to make way for the IKEA store.
Architect SRA designed the scheme, which will include a large three-storey car park and Fareham-based Natta Building is expected to deliver the groundwork package after delivering a similar project for IKEA in Southampton.
