Contractor named for West End commercial scheme

Kier has been appointed by developer Derwent London to
deliver Holden House, a landmark office-led scheme on the
corner of Oxford Street and Rathbone Place in the capital’s
West End.
The appointment follows on from Kier completing the steel-
framed Network W1 building on Tottenham Court Road for the
same developer.
The £98 million Holden House project will transform the existing
building through a major ‘behind-the-façade’ redevelopment.
The work will extend the building to eight-storeys and provide
10,680m2 of Grade A office accommodation, alongside 1,800m2
of retail space fronting Oxford Street.
With sustainability at the forefront of its design, the project is
aiming to achieve BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, LEED Gold,
NABERS UK 4.5 Star, EPC ‘A’, SmartScore Platinum and
WiredScore Platinum certifications.
Derwent London Development Director Richard Baldwin said:
“Holden House will deliver prime commercial space behind the
Grade II listed façade fronting Oxford Street. Bringing together
heritage, sustainability and exceptional design, it will create a
distinctive new workplace in one of London’s most well-
connected locations.
“We look forward to working with Kier and continuing our
collaborative relationship on this exciting project, after the
recent completion of Network W1.”
