Contractor named for Huddersfield multi-faith centre

Morgan Sindall Construction has been appointed by the University of Huddersfield to build a new on-campus Faith Centre.

The 1,000m² two-storey centre will provide community space, a congregational hall, separate male and female Muslim prayer rooms, a Christian and multi-faith room and a Chaplain’s office.

Additionally, the Faith Centre, which will meet the WELL standard, will also incorporate learning and support areas, an equipment store, and accessible toilets.

Morgan Sindall Construction Project Manager Steve Barrett, said: “We’re very proud of our work over recent years with the University of Huddersfield, creating one of the most visually stunning learning facilities in the country with the Barbara Hepworth Building.

“Students are unable to reach their learning potential without fulfilling their needs outside of the lecture hall, library or lab. It is therefore a privilege for us to work in delivering this new Faith Centre, which will be a welcoming place for prayer and reflection for students and staff of all faiths.”
