Contract awarded for Essex diagnostic centre

MTX Contracts will lead the construction of Pitsea’s new state-of-the-art community diagnostic centre (CDC).

Set to be the largest facility of its kind in mid and south Essex, the two-storey centre will play a vital role in improving access to health services and reducing waiting times across the region.

As well as an eight-room endoscopy suite, diagnostic screening facilities and a blood testing service, the CDC will serve as a wellbeing hub, with a purpose-built activity centre and a community library incorporated into the design.

Michael Thorpe, Portfolio Director at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Bringing all the services together makes it more convenient for the community to get everything they need in one place.

“By helping patients receive essential tests more quickly and closer to home, our CDC will transform access to diagnostics across the region.”

The Pitsea CDC will receive its first patients in late 2026.
