Brent Cross data centre campus set for major expansion
Pure Data Centres has appointed Glencar as main contractor for the delivery of the next phase of its Brent Cross campus in North London.
The new facility, known as LON1B2, builds on the existing 20MW Building 1, which is already operational.
Glencar’s scope of works includes piling and foundations, the structural frame and connections to the existing building.
The scheme will be delivered within a live operational campus, meaning logistics and the sequencing of works will be crucial to the overall programme.
A standout feature of the new building will be a living wall installation, spanning approximately 7,400m2 of the façade. Said to be one of the largest green walls in the world, it will incorporate more than 750,000 plants, supporting biodiversity and improving air quality.
Glencar CEO Eddie McGillycuddy, said: “This appointment reflects our growing track record in delivering complex data centre projects within live environments.
“The Brent Cross campus presents a technically demanding programme, requiring careful coordination across multiple phases, and we look forward to working closely with Pure Data Centres and the wider team to deliver this next stage of the development.”
Pure Data Centres’ Executive Chairman Gary Wojtaszek, said: “The data centre industry faces a critical challenge: building the digital infrastructure the world needs in a way that also takes care of local communities and the environment. We are delighted to be working with Glencar, whose approach to delivery and sustainability aligns with our ambitions for this project.”
