Bournemouth stadium expansion set to kick off
The £85 million expansion of AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium has been approved, with a phased construction programme due to start this summer.
The Premier League’s smallest ground, with a capacity of 11,300, will be expanded to accommodate around 20,000 spectators.
Following enabling works, due to be completed over the summer, the south stand will be demolished and rebuilt, while the north and east stands will be expanded and the corners infilled to provide the additional capacity.
Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council Cabinet Member for Destination, Leisure and Commercial Operations, Councillor Rich Herrett, said: “We have a positive relationship with the football club and have enjoyed like many, their recent successes on the pitch.
“We look forward to working with them on their plans to invest in the area and improve the matchday experience for fans at the Vitality Stadium, via the appropriate planning and democratic processes.”
