April issue of New Steel Construction out now
The April issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available. It is a digital-only issue and readers can access the magazine at www.newsteelconstruction.com
The cover story features 105 Victoria Street, a site formerly occupied by a department store and now being redeveloped into a 15-storey office block. Sustainability is at the core of the project’s design and the majority of the steel beams and columns have been sourced from electric arc furnace (EAF) production facilities.
In Epping, a new steel-framed leisure centre is set to provide an economic and wellbeing boost to the Essex town. Facilities include a 25m-long swimming pool, sports hall, dance and fitness studios, and a gym.
Recycled Portland Stone, EAF sourced steelwork and reused steel incorporated into the main frame, have contributed to a highly sustainable office development at Holborn Viaduct. The scheme is aiming for BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and WELL Platinum accreditations.
Structural steelwork has played a leading role in the construction of a data campus Admin Building in London Docklands. Built on a confined site, steel was used to achieve the desired 10m-long internal spans.
Consisting of two buildings; a 1950s retained structure and a new build 14-storey tower, Timber Square is said to be the largest scheme in the UK to use a hybrid steel and cross laminated timber solution.
NSC also features industry news, a technical article and an advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
