£54M revamp for England’s home of rugby

twickers161124The English Rugby Football Union (RFU) is to redevelop Twickenham stadium’s east stand to improve the match day experience for supporters.

The work will double the available space in the east stand, creating an additional 10,750m² to form six new levels for hospitality and conference facilities.

The exterior of the east stand will also be modernised while the existing bowl infrastructure and seating will not be affected.

Plans to redevelop the east stand of Twickenham stadium are seen by the RFU as the next phase in delivering on a key area of its objective to fuel growth of the game at every level.

The RFU is hosting public consultations for local residents, businesses and other stakeholders, and subject to planning permission the project will be completed by the end of 2018.

The last major expansion took place in 2006 when a new tier was added to the South Stand increasing the capacity to 82,000.
