The first issue of New Steel Construction for 2023 is out now

The January issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This issue’s cover story is the new Everton stadium that is quickly taking shape at Bramley-Moore Dock on Liverpool’s riverfront. Structural steelwork is helping to form the arena’s stands and a continuous wrap-around roof that requires a series of long trusses that are up to 170m-long.

The first new theatre to be built in London in more than 50 years forms the centrepiece of the Soho Place development in the capital’s West End. Contained with one of the project’s two steel-framed buildings, the scheme also includes offices, retail units and a new piazza.

Sunderland’s former Vaux brewery site is being redeveloped into a world-class urban quarter. Following on from a new Civic Hall, the latest scheme is two commercial blocks, known as Maker and Faber, which will together offer 13,900m2 of office space.

Structural steelwork has played an important role in the construction of a four-storey teaching block at Barnfield College in Luton. Steelwork has formed an exoskeleton, as well as a central atrium’s infill floors, link bridges and feature staircase.

Maggie’s cancer support centres are renowned for their patient care as well as the architectural design of the facilities. The latest centre at London’s Royal Free Hospital is no exception and is formed with a bespoke raking steel frame.

NSC also features industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
