The latest Steelwork in Action special report is available in the January issue of New Civil Engineer (NCE) magazine.

Published in association with the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA) and Steel for Life, the supplement showcases four innovative steelwork projects as well as a report on SteelConstruction.info, the free encyclopaedia for the steel sector.

The initial project feature is Southbank Place, a large multi-million pound scheme that is rising up adjacent to London’s Waterloo Station. The development includes two steel-framed commercial towers, containing 11 and 17 floors respectively.

Steelwork is helping to bring two schools together on one site in Cumbria. More than 700t of structural steelwork has been erected to form Campus Whitehaven.

The steel sector’s website – www.steelconstruction.info – is the number one destination for engineers and designers seeking to access steel-related information. The supplement’s article highlights the latest content to have been added to the site.

A range of different sized steel trusses have been erected to form Sunderland’s Beacon of Light facility. Said to be the first of its kind in the UK, it will include engaging and interactive zones for education, health and fitness, as well as sport.
