Queen’s Park reveal stadium redevelopment plans

Scotland’s oldest professional football club Queen’s Park has revealed plans for its new home at Lesser Hampden in south Glasgow.

Founded in 1867, the club previously played at the adjacent Hampden Park for over a century, but recently moved to Falkirk as part of a ground-sharing agreement.

Lesser Hampden, which was previously used for reserve and training matches will be developed into a modern stadium with a capacity of more than 1,500.

Construction work will deliver a 1,000-capacity east stand running the full length of the pitch, new state-of-the-art dressing rooms below the existing JB McAlpine Pavilion, a new away supporters south stand and a resurfaced pitch.

A new area for directors and sponsors will be housed adjacent to the existing JB McAlpine Pavilion, while this stand will also be refitted internally, giving more space for social facilities and other stadium-related essentials.

The club, which has won the Scottish Cup on ten occasions, but not since 1893, aims to be playing at Lesser Hampden for season 2022-23.
