Porter Building achieves WELL certification

Posted on by in Weekly News

The steel-framed Porter Building in Slough town centre has achieved WELL Building Standard certification, making the 11,100m² development one of the UK’s healthiest office blocks.

The project, which was completed late last year, was a partnership between developers Landid and Brockton. Working on behalf of Bowmer & Kirkland, Leach Structural Steelwork erected more than 1,400t of steel for the job.

The WELL Building Standard is an international performance-based assessment methodology grounded in medical research that is exclusively focused on human health and wellbeing in the built environment

The Porter Building is the first in the UK to achieve WELL Core and Shell certification, attaining a rating of Gold, the second highest possible.

Designed by tp bennett, the Porter Building is located opposite Slough Station, which means tenants can reach London Paddington in just 13 minutes by train. Occupiers are set to benefit from even faster connections from next year when the Crossrail Elizabeth Line opens. Trains will then connect Slough and the City of London with a travel time of 34 minutes.
