November/December issue of New Steel Construction out now

The November/December issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC can find it at www.newsteelconstruction.com

This issue’s cover story is the ExCeL London exhibition and convention centre, which is undergoing its third phase of construction. Structural steelwork is extending the centre to add a further 25,000m2 of additional space to the eastern end of the venue.

The first of two education projects is the Edge Hill University in Ormskirk. Forming part of a much wider masterplan at the campus, a new steel-framed Life Sciences Building is under construction.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Maldon in Essex, a combined primary school and nursery is being built to serve a large housing development that will create up to 1,000 new homes on the outskirts of Maldon.

One of the final elements of Manchester’s First Street development is a nine-storey commercial block. Aiming to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, the project highlights how steelwork can create modern open-plan office spaces.

Based around an intricate pattern of six U-shaped interlinked wings, a steel-framed mental health unit will improve care at North Manchester General Hospital.

NSC also features a Steel for Life Headline Sponsor article from Barrett Steel, industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
