New businesses launched at Barrett Steel
Two new businesses have been launched by Barrett Steel, Barrett Materials Handling and Barrett Specialist Vehicles, which the company says is part of its overall growth strategy.
Barrett Steel Commercial Director Simon Berry said: “With the new businesses we can focus more clearly on individual customer needs. They will have access to a group stock of 100,000t and added value services such as sawing, tube laser cutting, flat bed laser cutting, tube manipulation, as well as drilling, shot blasting and painting.”
The company has created extra capacity with the addition of two new tube laser machines and a large diameter plasma-cutting machine.
“The Barrett package also includes a specialist export service and we have seen sales grow to over £1.5M over the past 12 months. We can arrange materials, packing, containerisation and paperwork, making it easier for customers to concentrate on their core business,” said Mr Berry.
Despite challenging times in the industry Barrett Steel reported a near 91% increase in pre-tax profits as sales increased for the financial year to September 2014.
