Posted on by in Weekly News

The May issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC can find it at www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story is the SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway, where more than 5,000t of structural steelwork has been erected to form the Park’s seventh distribution centre

The City of London’s latest landmark high-rise development is underway at 8 Bishopsgate. Eventually topping out at 50-storeys, the tower features a host of sustainability features and is set to be the UK’s tallest structure to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating.

Helping to provide green and renewable energy a steel-framed energy-from-waste facility is under construction in Newhurst, Leicestershire. The size and complexity of the structural design meant steelwork was the only viable framing solution.

An exposed steel frame will provide a world-leading facility for robotics and artificial intelligence at Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University with the desired modern and aesthetic interior.

Meanwhile, at the University of Salford, structural steelwork has provided the framing solution for the Energy House 2, where building materials will be tested, in simulated weather conditions, in order to evaluate their green credentials. NSC also features a Steel for Life Gold Sponsor article from Ficep, industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and Codes and Standards updates.
