The March issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both print and digital formats. Readers can access the magazine at: www.newsteelconstruction.com
This issue’s cover story features 2 Finsbury Avenue, the sixth and final phase of the City of London’s Broadgate redevelopment. Sat on a 12-storey podium, the project includes two towers that will top out at heights of 100m and 170m respectively.
On the south bank of the River Thames at Belvedere, the Riverside Energy Park is expanding with the construction of a second energy from waste plant. Once operational, the facility will generate enough electricity to power around 176,000 homes.
In Scotland, the new South West Fife High School features steel elements that are inspired by the nearby Forth Bridge. One of these is a red-painted steel truss bridge that spans the school’s atrium at first floor level.
A new fire engineered boundary wall specification has been used for the first time on a warehouse scheme in Beckton. The guidance ensures that the cladding on each building hangs as an effective fire curtain, containing a fire along boundary elevations.
Warehousing schemes are getting bigger and at Magna Park Lutterworth, developer GLP is constructing its largest speculative unit to date. Requiring 2,470t of steelwork, the unit measures 384m-long and features six 30m-wide spans.
NSC also features a Steel for Life Headline Sponsor article from Barret Steel, industry news, a technical article and an advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
