Manchester Met University plans new science building

Manchester Metropolitan University has submitted plans for a new Science and Engineering building at its existing campus.

The proposed development site is currently occupied by the John Dalton West building, and associated car parking and servicing areas. The site is located adjacent to the John Dalton Tower which is to be retained and upgraded.

The University said the new building will provide improved teaching spaces, study areas and catering facilities for the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

New pedestrian routes across the site will be provided within attractive landscaping, which will create an accessible external environment, particularly along its main frontage.

Subject to planning approval, demolition works are expected to start later this year, with the project completing in 2023.
