Levelling up creates leisure boost for Leek
Alliance Leisure has appointed Speller Metcalfe as the main contractor for the multi-million-pound redevelopment of MyActive Leek, which was formerly known as Brough Park Leisure Centre.
The scheme is supported by £10 million of Levelling Up Funding, with additional funds coming from the Council, Sport England and the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
Alliance Leisure Regional Director, Julia Goddard said: “The new centre will provide a fantastic range of modern services that support both physical and mental wellbeing.
“The project aligns with Leek Council’s wider Move More strategy to provide accessible, high-quality facilities and environments for all residents, and is set to become a key community asset for years to come.”
The scheme includes replacing the existing four-lane swimming pool with a new 25m, six-lane pool, as well as a teaching pool. The gym will be expanded, while one squash court will be transformed into a new community wellness suite.
Other key features include a new indoor adventure soft play area, a larger reception and a café.
Rob Wilks, Head of Leisure and Environmental Services at Leek Council said: “We are excited to be delivering this project that will help regenerate the town and deliver modern, quality health and wellbeing opportunities for our residents, visitors, and businesses.”
