September’s NSC features the usual mix of construction project reports, updates on key technical issues from industry experts as well as news from around the UK’s steel sector.

Project reports in this issue include the Monument Building in the City of London. This Grade A office development has quickly taken shape in the shadow of one of the capital’s most famous landmarks – the Monument, which was erected to commemorate the Great Fire of 1666.

Another City of London commercial development, on Finsbury Circus, also features in NSC. This nine-storey development has thrown up a number of unique challenges all of which have been overcome with the aid of steel construction.

The distribution centre sector is buoyant and NSC reports on one of the UK’s largest projects. The Next distribution centre on the outskirts of Doncaster is multi-span structure measuring 380m in length.

Structural steelwork has proven to be the ideal material for building sports and leisure facilities. In this issue of NSC to sports centres in Oldham and Royton highlight steel’s flexibility and economy.

The first phase of Birkenhead’s Wirral Water regeneration scheme, an article on Eurocodes and a technical article from the Steel Construction Institute are also featured in this issue.
