Kick-off confirmed for Aston Villa stadium expansion
Birmingham City Council has granted planning permission for Aston Villa’s North Stand expansion scheme, which will add 6,000 seats to the Villa Park capacity.
Combined with ongoing upgrades to the other three stands, the total capacity of the stadium will increase to over 50,000.
Work is expected to complete in the second half of 2027, ahead of the stadium hosting matches at the UEFA Euro 2028 championships.
Aston Villa President of Business Operations, Francesco Calvo, said: “We are delighted that we have been granted planning permission for the North Stand development. This is not only critical to the sustained economic growth of the club but it will also allow more of our loyal supporters to attend matches.”
West Midlands Mayor, Richard Parker, added: “This is a massive step towards making Villa Park a world-class stadium and a top venue for future competitions.”
