January issue of New Steel Construction out now

The January issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

The cover story for the first issue of 2020 is the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, where more than 20,000t of steel is helping to transform the iconic building into a new mixed-use scheme including retail units, a cinema, offices and apartments.

An irregular-shaped building with a folding origami-style roof is under construction in Galashiels to house the 143m-long Great Tapestry of Scotland.

As well as being built to house numerous local historical artefacts, the Doncaster Cultural and Learning Centre’s steel frame encapsulates the entrance to a former girls’ school.

Structural steelwork has proven to be the right choice for a new academy in Oldham, where speed of construction and a flexible design, that could incorporate future alterations, is of upmost importance.

An 87m-long steel composite bridge has been erected in Ebbsfleet Garden City in Kent, which will offer residents better access to the local railway station.

NSC also features a profile of David Moore, the BCSA’s new Chief Executive Officer, a Sector Focus article on software, industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
