Hill Dickinson Stadium named Best Project of the Year

Demonstrating that UK steel fabricators are among the best in the world, the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool has been named Best Project of the Year at the 2026 constructsteel Awards.

Working on behalf of main contractor Laing O’Rourke, Severfield fabricated, supplied and erected more than 12,500t of steelwork for the project.

A spokesperson for Severfield said: “We’re proud to have played a part in delivering this landmark project, with the Award recognising the engineering expertise, collaboration and hard work that went into bringing the stadium to life.

“A huge thank you to our teams and project partners who helped make it possible, and congratulations to all this year’s winners!”

Hosting matches since 2025 and built to replace Everton FC’s historic Goodison Park ground, the Hill Dickinson Stadium is the newest venue in the English Premier League.

The design incorporates four interlinked rectangular stands (the ground’s four corners are infilled with further seats), which are topped by a continuous cantilevering roof.

The sweeping, low-profile barrel roof, which responds to the industrial character of the surrounding maritime buildings, is said to define the stadium.

Organised by constructsteel, the World Steel Association’s steel construction market development programme, the awards recognise exceptional achievements in the worldwide steel construction sector.
