Green light for Shoreditch high-rise office scheme
Hackney Council has given the go-ahead for a 27-storey office block at One Fairchild Street in Shoreditch, east London.
Being developed by Rocket Properties and designed by architects AHMM, the project which sits close to the City of London’s financial district, will offer 25,500m2 of office space, including affordable zones for start-ups and SMEs, as well as roof terraces.
According to AHMM, the scheme will have a positive impact on the townscape by reinstating the missing frontages along Shoreditch High Street, Fairchild Street and Holywell Lane.
Targeting a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, the project will include a large public realm, connecting the site with the surrounding area and providing new pedestrian and cycle routes.
A design philosophy dubbed a ‘multi-level base’ will merge different spaces and uses, allowing for a seamless connection between the basement levels and the mezzanine floors of the building. This is said to promote social connections between tenants and increase activity along the frontage and public realm.
With an estimated three year construction programme, the project could start onsite early in 2025.
