February issue of New Steel Construction out now

NSC_Feb16_covFPThe February issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital, and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not already receive the print magazine and would like to subscribe should visit www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s issue features the Moor retail development in Sheffield that forms an integral element of the city’s wider regeneration plans. Phase two is now under way and this consists of two large steel-framed structures; a Primark store and a cinema/retail block.

Steel construction is ever present in Central London and this month’s NSC has two projects from the capital. 11-12 Hanover Square is a new office and retail development situated on a plot previously occupied by four properties. A series of temporary props have been used in conjunction with the steelwork to support the existing buildings either side of the scheme.

At 25-32 Chancery Lane a new four-storey steel-framed office and retail building is being constructed behind retained 1870s facades. Again a large quantity of temporary steel has been installed to support these listed walls.

The latest biomass renewable energy plant is underway at Snetterton in Norfolk. As with all of these projects the scheme consists of a number of large steel-framed buildings to house the straw, which is burnt for energy, and all of the processing equipment.

Our fifth project article is a flagship school being built in Holywell, North Wales. In contrast to many of the schools currently under construction in the UK, this one features an elaborate steel design combining a three-storey secondary school with a single storey primary school.

NSC also features a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, industry news, and codes and standards updates.
